Your grade for the course will be determined by a cumulative point total weighted as follows:

Important: YOU MUST TAKE THE FINAL EXAM TO PASS THE CLASS!

The dates for the midterms are as follows:

Midterm: Wednesday, May 5
Final Exam:
Monday, June 7, 4:10pm–7:00pm.

NOTE: All exams and quizzes are CLOSED book. Calculators, notes and books will not be allowed. There are NO makeup exams. If an emergency situation arises which will cause you to miss an exam or quiz, you must contact me BEFORE the exam or quiz is given. Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Possible penalties include a failing grade for the course.

Homework and Quizzes:
I will be assigning homework on a regular basis. Most will be from the book and maybe a few will be custom-built. It will be collected and graded. What I will be looking for is clear and understandable (and correct) solutions to the homework problems. If you make a claim in the solution to a problem, you should be able to justify it (this includes clearly explaining your reasoning to peers in front of the board!). Learning how to write up a clear and precise arguments will be one of the primary goals of the course.
